I became a T-3 paraplegic in 1982 due to a motorcycle accident. I drove with the mounted hand controls for years until I started Racing Wheelchairs in 1989. By 1991, I was starting to travel around the United States and other countries. I constantly ran into the problem of not being able to rent a vehicle after getting off the plane at these locations.

In order to rent a vehicle, I had to call 7-days in advance to arrange for a vehicle to be equipped for me to drive. In most cases the hand controls that where installed in these vehicles where not installed correctly and was always having problems with them. With the poor installation and mis-configured equipment, it was always a hazard to driving.

Then I used my engineering background and developed the Portable Hand Control. The TNT Portable Hand Control has the features that will assist in driving and give the comfort and direct control of both the Accelerator and Brake pedals by the use of one hand. With the Thumb or Palm to press for the accelerator and the 4 inch brake handle to press for the braking of the vehicle, there is safety and ease put into place with these controls.
